12:00AM 12:00AM Dorothy Boccella’s 2013 Holiday Marketplace fund The Abington Community Library will host its Dorothy Boccella’s 2013 Holiday Marketplace fundraiser on Saturday, November 9, 2013 from 10 AM to 4 PM. The library is located at 1200 West Grove Street, Clarks Summit. Admission is FREE. This annual fundraiser will feature over 25 local vendors with unique handcrafted items including honey and maple syrup products, handmade wooden bowls and cutting boards, pottery, clothing, funky and traditional jewelry, and original artwork. Through November 9 a chance raffle is available with over 80 beautiful baskets donated by local businesses and individuals. Baskets include gift cards, jewelry, child’s wooden rocking chair, an overnight stay with spa treatments, American Girl Doll, LEGO Medieval Castle set, and much more! Raffle tickets can be purchased at the library. The ticket prices are 2 tickets for $1, 12 tickets for $5, or 25 tickets for $10. The tickets can be used towards any basket. The concept for Holiday Marketplace (2009) was created by former Library staff member Dorothy Boccella (1960-2013), a talented woman whose infectious enthusiasm, generosity, and creativity made this event and its success possible. 1:00PM 3:00PM Veggie Tales Movie Screening As most area schools are closed for the first day of deer season, please join us for a screening of the newest Veggie Tales movie, Merry Larry and the True Light of Christmas on Monday, December 2, 2013 at 1:00 pm. 1:05PM 12:00AM Owl Day Have you met Tally, the Nature Center’s newest Eastern screech owl? She joins Owen, a family favorite of the Endless Mountains Nature Center. Owen and Tally cannot be released back into the wild due to injury, so they visit with children and families during educational programs and events, such as the upcoming Owl Day on Sunday, Nov. 10 from 1-4 p.m. In addition to viewing the Nature Center’s raptors, learn about birds of prey during a program presented by Bill Streeter, an educator from the Delaware Valley Raptor Center. Hone your drawing skills during an art session using a live owl as a model or engage your crafty side with an owl-themed craft. Children enjoy learning by using their hands to dissect owl pellets and pick up useful knowledge about what owls and other birds of prey like to eat.
8:00PM 11:55PM Eagles Madison Square Garden, New York City Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, Eagles will perform at The World's Most Famous Arena on November 8, 9 and 11! Eagles - Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy B. Schmit - will perform classics spanning their career including “Hotel California,” “New Kid In Town,” “Take It To The Limit,” “One Of These Nights,” “Lyin’ Eyes,” “Rocky Mountain Way,” “Best Of My Love” and “Take It Easy.” Hits from band members’ solo catalogs will also be featured during the evenings. History of the Eagles, the band’s acclaimed documentary, provides an unprecedented and intimate look into the history of the band and the legacy of its music. The exceptional three-disc set includes History of the Eagles Part One and History of the Eagles Part Two, as well as Eagles Live At The Capital Centre - March 1977, featuring never-before-released performances from the Eagles’ two-night stand at Washington, D.C.’s Capital Center during the legendary Hotel California tour.
8:00PM 9:00PM Josh Rabinowitz - Comedy Show This hilarious comic who’s on the verge of breaking big comes to East Stroudsburg University on Friday, Nov. 8. Proceeds will benefit women's athletics. Some will recognize Rabinowitz from his stint as the Genius Bar guy in Apple commercials. He also appeared with Louis C.K. on the second season of "Louie," the original FX series, in his own Comedy Central special, and on the Collegehumor.com live tour.
